GOOD TO SEE YOU
Exploring a church for the first time can be intimidating and confusing, but we also believe that it doesn’t have to be. At Decatur you will find a warm welcome with new friends, worship to connect with, and a clean and safe environment for kids. We invite you to come as you are. When we gather to worship or to serve, we gather as we are and ask God to work through us. We want you to feel at home in worship, so here are some frequently asked questions that may be of some help. Feel free to contact us with any questions or for additional information.

Overview of COVID Protocols:
  • Masks are no longer required for fully vaccinated individuals.
  • All are encouraged to wear a mask, so no one feels singled out for their vaccination status.
  • As an act of love for those not yet eligible to be vaccinated and in keeping with CDC recommendations, unvaccinated people will wear a face covering upon entering the church facility.
  • To learn more about our COVID protocols for worship, please visit decaturumc.com/COVID.

WHEN DO YOU MEET?
Find hope and connect with Jesus in worship. At Decatur, we value worship that is inviting, that honor's God, and connects people with God's grace. Each Sunday we gather together to live into this value. Join us to experience hymns in the Methodist tradition led by our chancel choir, ancient creeds of the church, and a message relevant to your life. Click HERE for our church calendar. WHAT ABOUT THE TEACHING?

You can check out our messages before you visit; you can even subscribe to our podcast to receive weekly inspiration directly. Pastor Will designs his messages to help you find hope, connect with Jesus, and grow in relationship with others. You can also worship with us on facebook. Several times a week we go live on facebook. This is a time for you to engage with faith, let us pray for you and get the inspiration you need to continue in your week.

WHAT DO I WEAR?
Most people dress casually when they come to Decatur. Many wear jeans, slacks, and golf shirts. Some wear shorts and some even will wear dresses or suits. Primarily, we want you to feel comfortable, so feel free to dress as you desire.

*Because of COVID-19 a face mask that covers the nose and mouth is required unless you are fully vaccinated.

WHAT ABOUT MY KIDS?
At Decatur, we value families worshiping God and serving together. Please know that your kids are welcome in worship. When you enter the sanctuary, make sure to pick up a children's bulletin and crayons to help your child engage during worship. While children are always welcome in worship, we also offer children's church during the message portion of the sermon. This is a time for our children to engage with each other and God through a lesson designed specifically for this. Each week, our kids are excited about children's church.

*Because of COVID-19 our children's church activities are suspended.

WHAT IS UNITED METHODIST?
Our church is part of a larger group of churches known as United Methodists. Worldwide there are nearly 13 million United Methodists who worship and serve in early every corner of the world. As United Methodists we share basic beliefs and mission with other United Methodists, and we believe it is important for each local community to discern how to best live out their faith in their local context.

In Decatur, we work in close cooperation with the nine other United Methodist churches in Meigs County. We call this cooperation the Meigs County Parish. Throughout the year we have special shared worship services, a county-wide youth group, and shared women's and men's group. This cooperation allows us to use the gifts of many churches to make a larger impact in our community.

You  can learn more about what United Methodists believe at UMC.org. Our pastor would love to discuss any questions about United Methodists; feel free to contact him at pastor@decaturumc.com.

Decatur UMC is located in Meigs County in East Tennessee in the Town of Decatur at the intersection of State Hwy 30 and State Hwy 58. If traveling north on Hwy 58, go past the intersection with Hwy 30 and turn left at either of the next two streets, Gennoe Ave. or Sharon Ave. Parking for guests and persons with disabilities is available in the north parking lot. The building is accessible from either parking lot.
