When we talk about WORSHIP, we are talking LITURGY. Liturgy is how the community responds and participates in worship. When you look at the Greek root of the word "liturgy" it either means "the work of the people" or "the work for the people." There is some debate on the semantics of this, and we will not engage in this debate. Regardless, it means that liturgy (and worship) is the participatory effort of the entire church in praise to God.
Worship takes all believers in Jesus to make it happen. This is especially true as we are looking toward a new outdoor worship service. We need your help, your participation, so that the body of Christ can come together and worship the God who passionately loves us. Please take a moment to complete the volunteer survey below to indicate how you can participate in the work of the people praising God.
We are tentatively planning to host a joint Decatur/Concord worship gathering on October 4th at Decatur UMC. However, to make this happen we are searching for some key volunteers to help make this new worship experience possible. To make this worship opportunity possible, we need your help. We need people who can sing or play an instrument in praise of God, we need people who can lead prayers, who can setup and run the A/V system, provide hospitality and direction for worshippers, who will set up signs about social distancing, who can gather supplies for worship, and who can help clean the space following worship.
